Petrol Price in Malaysia is Down on 15th October 2008
As you are aware by now, the petrol prices dropped midnight yesterday. The current crude oil price at $73.61 seems like its dropping daily. The next question people are asking are are the food prices going down? Is the cost of living gonna drop too?

Who the heck is YB J?
On the 12th October 2008, there was a 'fictional' story written by Chamil Wariya and published in Utusan Malaysia about an MP called YB Josephine (YB J), who is:
- presumably Chinese
- accused of being anti-Islam & anti-Malay
- most likely from a opposition party (People's Action Party)
- afraid that her home may be petrol-bombed
- accused of wanted to change the road names in Jawi to Chinese

Finally in the end she is killed by a person from her same race, revolver bullet to the chest, piercing her heart. The killer then killed himself after. There was a note in the killer's possession that said:

"YB Josephine adalah ancaman terhadap keharmonian. Lebih baik riwayatnya ditamatkan supaya masyarakat berbilang kaum boleh tinggal aman damai di negara bertuah ini. Saya berkorban untuk masa depan."

Who is YB Josephine? Is there a meaning/purpose to this story? Or is it just for entertainment and is purely fictional in nature?

I feel sick.

THM TT (ii)

Compiled and selected pics from Kumar, mtuc and yslim:

1. Kayu Nasi Kandar, Aman Suria. We were sitting outside, till it started to drizzle.

2. Had to occupy few tables inside, as we had quite a crowd.

3. My eye-patch really stands out. It was rather uncomfortable, but no regrets.

4. Steven promoting Zhapalang's lube like a DVD salesman.

5. We moved back outside when the rain subsided.

6. Steven really gave out RM 50 discounts for StarHill spa. He even gave me TWO vouchers! My wife is a happy camper!

7. RM 80 - 12 LEDs that can change (7) colors. Save and preset or change color on intervals, up to you.

8. Headlight shootout. Looks like the Phillips won.

9. Mliven installing the LED in the trunk. Go to his BLOG for more pics.

10. This is the road where we parked all night.

Health is greater than Wealth

I'm feeling much better today. Thanks for your well wishes.

Last Thursday I was feeling kinda sickly, and was half-joking with my colleagues that I can't get sick, cos the weekend is coming =]

Alas, I had a sharp pain in my right eye early Friday morning. It has happened before, and what I do is just to go back to sleep, and everything should be fine the next morning (except a blurry morning after). This time, it wasn't so. I missed a 7am meeting and was bedridden on Friday. I tried to make an appointment to see a very good eye specialist, Dr. Dunstan FERNANDEZ, who has his own practise in PJ Old Town. He would only be available at 3.40pm earliest. *sigh*

The good doctor, is a eye specialist consultant for Assunta hospital. Rotary club PJ president in 1995-1996, and his wife (Dr. Theresa) had a Clinic in PJ Old town, where my mother-in-law used to work as a nurse. He's got many years of experience and it shows. His fees are moderate for a specialist and his medication is superb.

He patched me up and gave some advice, and told me to come back either Monday for a further check-up. Basically the problem is a recurring eye injury that happened before. When I got sick, my body resistance dropped, eyes were dry, and just by blinking, aggravated an old eye injury. *sigh*

Anyway, doctors orders are to go for long term 'lubrication' and artificial tears. Don't use the computer for long hours, and take care of your health. Health is greater than wealth.

Special thanks to my wife who really took care of me during this whole weekend. Love, your hubby.

Oil Price

Crude oil prices are sub-$70. How much longer do we have to wait for a pump price reduction?

Its all about the OIL!

The crude oil price has dropped sub-$90 as of this evening. Thats the lowest I recall since Feb 2008.

On Sunday, I was chatting with a IT support in the petrol/diesel industry, and he mentioned, according to his calculations, the government isn't paying a single cent in subsidy. Based on the official reports, the government is paying RM 0.30 subsidy for each liter.

Anyway, I'm just looking forward to the next reduction in the petrol prices in Malaysia. Earliest this will happen? November 2008, no thanks to our leaders who have to wait for a cabinet meeting to determine & announce the new petrol price. In the meantime, just make a hell of a 'profit' and then reduce the pump prices to 'ease the rakyat's burden'. Source: Bernama.

MSNBC reports blame the global financial crisis (economic slowdown reducing the demand for crude oil) and the strengthening of the US dollar to UK's Euro as the causes of the crude oil price drop.

Sea Park Sightings... again.

I think someone who works in Syarikat Aik Huat Tyre & Battery owns a saphire silver X20. First sighted here. Then again on the Sunday (5th Oct):

Btw, the accent has a nice no. plate.

Going, going DOWN!

Going UP:
- Inflation jumps UP to a 27-year high.
- Prices of food and stuff went UP.
- Interested rates went UP.

Going DOWN:
- Stock markets are going DOWN
- Our beloved currency is going DOWN (weakening). Peg or no peg?
- Confidence/transparency/freedom/trust in the ruling government is going DOWN (since March 8th)

However, we do have some good news, that if the average prices of crude oil stay below USD $104 we should see a further reduction on petrol prices, said our Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad. Source: Paul Tan

Alignment, Balancing & Cross Tyres

The sports rim shop advised a 10k tyre check-up which consists of:
1. Alignment
2. Balancing
3. Cross tyres

Actually balancing is done first, this is to ensure that your steering wheel doesn't wobble at higher speeds. The the tyres are crossed (swapped locations) and then only the alignment is done.

Did this at C.K.L tyres in SS2, PJ. They charge a bomb, but I'm pretty confident on their workmanship. However, this time I had to wait super long just to get these 3 relatively simple things done.

My car is still pulling slightly to the left, but not all the time. Its really weird. I've asked a few friends to drive and they agree with my conclusion. Today at a flat car park, it was perfect. No alignment problems. But sometimes while driving, the car pulls to the left. Anyway, I've adjusted to it, coz I drive with my right hand and gravity plus my right hand pulls the steering to the right and balances the car.

ps - for those with safety/custom 'nuts' for your sports rim, make sure you bring along your 'key' to remove your rims. Don't waste time making this simple mistake :p
