Sightings... and no kissing

Saw 3 Elantra's in the last week. Managed to capture 2 of them on camera. Sorry for the poor quality:

1. 26 March: Two guys in a Silver X20, probably after work, around 7pm at Sprint Highway, coming from Eastin Hotel.


2. 28 March: A red Avante (Singapore) in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail.


3. Saphire Silver X20 with PHP number plate in SS2. No pics.

Long Overdue SNIPPETS

1. My last post was October 16th. Thats more than 2 weeks ago. I feel sorry for those who have been coming back here regularly and finding no updates. Thank you for your visits.

2. I haven't seen any X20s on the road, however, in Kluang, an SG Avante is spotted!


3. Oil prices are in the RM 60+ region. I dunno to be happy or sad. 40% of M'sia's funding comes from Petronas. I wonder how the lower crude oil prices are affecting our budget, since Budget 2009 was tabled when the oil price was RM 125 per barrel.

4. No updates to my car. However, upcoming events are THM TT at Kajang (with alot of poison) and TT at Fara's. Details to come.

5. Two brothers from my church are car enthusiates. Both of them drive the Toyota Trueno, or its more famous name, 86 ('part loke' in canto). All of them with stock engines, but kitted bodies and modified interiors. The white one, driven by the younger brother, won a time challenge race recently

Avantes and X20s get aquainted @ Nilai

THM met up with the Advante Club from Club Hyundai yesterday afternoon at Nilai for a TT.

I thought I couldn't make the TT and was quite miserable, coz I had to stay at home for a few reasons. Anyway, the avante guys were running late and my wife graciously agreed to go together.

We drove down to Nilai after lunch and met up with mtuc + kids, dr.is, zeke + wife, mohd. eric. Avante guys came over late, but they came with their numbers. 16 cars, compared to our M'sian 4 cars... *sigh*

I bought a 2nd hand Hurricane filter from avantERIC, who himself changed to open pod. Using "Japan's highest grade stainless steel" as its filter element, this Singaporean product positions itself next to K&N, hitting down on Oil Based air filters. Visit their website and you'll know what I mean.









Tried it out in my car and did a zero-to-hundred and clocked 11.25 seconds. Not much of a performance improvement, but two things:
- The air cond was on
- The car wasn't warmed up. The last time the car wasn't warmed up, I clocked 12.25s.

Anyway, my goal is not to improve BHP, but for better fuel economy and cheap maintenance. Wash and blow dry.

X20 Sightings... and also Advante sightings...

I saw a Sapphire Silver X20 on Jalan Ampang this afternoon, around 2pm. Was going to Raja Chulan for work, and passed a weird looking car. I must say that the sapphire silver rear end looks kinda weird. Even my colleague in my car said that. "Black doesn't make the rear end look funny." - Hon Yau, 2008.

An indian guy with Penang plate (PHR ***) was driving:






This is my 4th X20 I saw on the road. The rest are:

1. Before I got my car, I was in Tmn Megah for futsal. I got into my Kenari, sweaty and ready to head home, I saw a sapphire silver X20 parked right in front of me. It was A SIGN from HEAVEN! No, it was not.




2. A few days after I got my car, I was in Petaling Garden with wifey. After picking up my car from a car wash, I saw a Silver X20 coming my way. I drove past him, a chinese guy with long hair, and he made a U-turn. I came back after 5 minutes, and saw the driver at the Mamak. Sorry no pics.

3. Saw an Advante at Kluang, Johor.
